Spearheaded by Yolk's graphic designer, Rachel Cook who created the typography for all the prints, Yolk curated and hosted an exhibition and art sale to raise money for Mind Charity, throughout #mentalhealthawarenesssmonth
Inspired by the belief that 'Two minds are better than one' each print was created in collaboration between Yolk's Design team and Manchester based Illustrators: Jordan Yates, Katie O'Rourke, Anna Mullin, Nell Smith and Charlotte Brown.
The series launched at an event on 15th May at Foundation Coffee House, Whitworth Locke.
Clay Jewellery Workshop for Bumble BFF
Our first sell-out event, back in December 2017, Aliyah Hussain led guests through a jewellery making workshop using marbling and terrazzo techniques. As part of a 12-month events programme for the Bumble app, our objective was to raise Bumble’s presence in Manchester. Working with celebrated local artists and creatives all the way from Barcelona at concept stores and co-work spaces across the city, app downloads and engagement went up month on month.
Sunday Times Bestselling business author, podcaster and broadcaster Emma Gannon came up to Manchester to launch her book: The Multi-Hypen Method at Pot Kettle Black. Over 100 guests came for a Q+A with the Forbes 30 Under 30 2018 winner, to listen, mingle and enjoy mimosas and cakes. A collaboration between two of our clients, Manchester venue and coffee shop, PKB and consumer-app, Bumble.
We were commissioned by book publishers, Pan Macmillan to curate and marketing a panel series called the Success Monologues in order to promote a debut novel, The Charmed life of Alex Moore.
We brought together a group of 5 brilliant women in Leeds and Manchester to speak about their limiting self-beliefs, the memories that made them, and how they've redefined what it means to ‘be a success'.

When Barry’s Bootcamp came to Manchester, their site’s external facade needed a bit of love. The surrounding building work and scaffolding needed concealing in a tasteful way so we designed an on-brand vinyl that covered the entire 8 storey building.

When Yolk conceptualised and launched Manchester’s fist wellness festival, Float Festival in September 2018, we programmed three lead-up events to help speak to our audience and build the community. The first was a free reggae yoga class with Cariad Yoga at Bruntwood’s shipping container pop-up, Hatch. Over 20 guests came for an early morning class to boost their mid-week mood and 90% of them bought tickets to Float Festival.
In early 2018 Yolk co-founded Manchester’s first wellness festival. A growing need for a more creative wellness scene in the North of England combined with a dissatisfaction with the word ‘wellness’ worldwide lead us to create Float. Yolk created the concept, brand identity (visual identity Designed by Duo), venue location, event curation, production, partnerships, sponsors, guests list, marketing and community build. Float 2018 was a sell-out event, with press coverage in Women’s Health and Instagram posts from leading body positive speaker, Jameela Jamil.
When Bristol-based developers, Meanwhile Creative launched their first Manchester space - and biggest project yet, Pollard Yard they spoke to us. A large-scale container unit project, transforming a derelict 2-acre plot of land into a new 200-container creative workspace community and dedicated event space. We launched their project to press, local community and Manchester creatives.
When Pot Kettle Black, Manchester’s finest antipodean coffee and food shop launched their new events space Yolk created an events series targeting their three key audiences; business owners, creative workshop providers, party people. Kicking off with a wild cocktail / tonic making workshop with local drinks queen, Emma Roberts of Into the Gathering Dusk. Guests including a couple of fabulous foodie names learnt the medicinal and cultural history of tonic water, flavours of the botanical ingredients and made their own unique blend to take away.
When Love Island DJ’s, the Mac Twins brought their iconic Gut Stuff roadshow to Manchester they spoke to Yolk for all things local knowledge. Helping them settle in to their next Manchester pop-up with venues, partners and relationships, we are honoured to be helping this pair radically change the face of gut health in the UK.
To activate newly regenerated townhouse workspace in Spinningfields, Manchester, we built a vibrant new community to help create noise and let the space.
Capturing This is the Space brand personality both on and offline, events spanned from cacao tea ceremonies to business workshops on cutting through the noise, with competition incentives, third party interviews and positioning social media.

The first in our 2-monthly series, November and December 2018 saw Yolklore Magazine celebrate slow. When all the world around us was going Christmas bonkers, our event series trio helped the people of Manchester take it down a gear. First up was the Thursday Night Nestle, a mellowing blend of Terrarium making and hygge interiors talk, prepping our guests for a cosy, back-to-nature winter. December events followed with a silent tea ceremony and finally a candle-making workshop in a charming old warehouse.
From art direction to launching ‘beautiful cards, brutal words’ brand, Mean Mail, we were thrilled to have London-based Vicky Simmons up in Manchester for a one-off collage workshop for beginners to design pros as part of the Bumble events programme in Manchester. The quickest ever event to sell out, Vicky had a room full of diverse men and women learning the simple are of collage making.
For Valentines Day 2019, Spinningfields commissioned a series of neon light installations inspired by love song lyrics.
Yolk was tasked with creating a digital and social media campaign to engage Manchester-based influencers and public .
We evolved the concept to ask people for their advice on the currency of love and heartbreak as part of a city-wide love story which transcended family love, friendships and relationships big and small.
Lyrics and advice were made into bespoke graphics designed by Yolk's Design team and the user-generated content was then shared across social media.
The campaign resulted in increased footfall to Spinningfields, a surge in follower count and a triple in Spinningfields social media impressions and page visits.
Scrivener, the go-to app for writers of all kinds, commissioned Yolk to create a series of events and supporting editorial to engage students in a nationwide campaign entitled #keepittogether.
Partnering with our local database of wellbeing-centred workshop providers and experts, from embroidery artists to sleep coaches, as well as mental health activists and stand-up comedians, Yolk curated a six-part #keepittogether event series across London, Manchester and Leeds, which encouraged students to take a break from their studies and get some much-needed headspace.
The programme gave students the opportunity to learn mindful ways to manage feelings of stress and brought awareness to students about the Scrivener product and how it helps you keep everything together when undertaking a writing project.
